Quality and Value
The main goal of the Program for the Valorization of Cheese of Portugal’s Center Regions to contribute to the strengthening and valorization of this sector, encouraging and leveraging the market demand for Center Region PDO cheeses as recognized differentiated quality products.
The project includes innovative actions aimed at all actors in the industry, from milk producer to final consumer.
Eight cheeses with Protected Designation of Origin are produced in the Central region of Portugal: the Serra da Estrela cheese PDO, the Beira Baixa cheeses – i.e. Castelo Branco cheese, Queijo Amarelo and Queijo Picante – PDO, and the Rabaçal cheese PDO.
